Billing:

You will shortly start receiving quarterly invoices from our affiliate in Seattle, Fibercloud Inc. for hosting at US$10.95 (approximately CAD$13.50) per month. We have complete remote access to our servers. They are collocated with www.fibercloud.com in Seattle because we believe this offers us an excellent, uninterrupted hosting solution with the highest bandwidth. Allowing Fibercloud Inc. to bill you directly saves us the overhead of clerical staff and saves you the PST and GST. Should you, however, prefer to pay us here in Victoria in Canadian dollars then the amount is $200.00 plus GST = $214.00 payable annually in advance.

Instructions for E-mail, Ftp, Webmail, and to Manage your Hosting Account

E-Mail

Outlook Express, Outlook, Eudora, Xmail

To setup your e-mail please use the following values:

Incoming Mail ( POP3 ) = yourwebsite.com
Outgoing Mail ( SMTP ) - contact your ISP and use their SMTP setting - you receive through your domain but send through your ISP:

Shaw Cable: shawmail.gv.shawcable.net
Telus: mail.telus.net

User Name: youremail@yourdomainname.com (.ca, .org etc.. )

Then, enter the password we have given you

Web Mail

To access you web mail please surf to www.yourdomain.com/webmail (once your domain name has resolved)

For the time being you can surf to http://youripaddress/webmail although no one will be able to send you email until your domain name resolves. (the ip address points to the domain name)

Did You Know!

Did you know you can use Spam Assassin to remove unwanted e-mail and viruses from your inbox before they leave the server?

Just login to your cpanel and you can turn " Spam Assassin " on or off.

Ftp Client - uploading your files:

In your ftp client please set your initial remote host directory to: public_html

The welcome page currently on the site is in the folder public_html is named index.html
(you are reading that page right now!)

You must over-write this file in order to see your homepage. A common mistake is publishing your home page as index.htm instead of index.html and then still seeing this page after you refresh your browser instead of your home page. The web browser always searches for index.html first.

If you do not put your index.html page in the public_html folder this page you are looking at will not be overwritten and you will not see you web page.

Note:

Once you overwrite this page (the one you are reading right now) you will no longer have these instructions so please write them down if you need to.

Manage Hosting and e-mail:

Once the new DNS settings have resolved to your domain name simply log in at www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel with the user name and password sent to you. Here you can administer all functions relating to your hosting such as e-mail accounts, create bulletin boards, chat rooms, mySql databases, password protect directories, shopping carts, modify your password and create mailing lists and much more.

For the time being until your domain name resolves you can surf to http://youripaddress/webmail

Tech support

Tech support for any of the "toys" in Cpanel is $60.00 / hr with a 30 minute minimum per call. Full documentation is also provided in the bottom left corner of the cpanel.
